Disability Does Not Mean Inability; LUCOHECO A Member to the National Task Force on TB/HIV Among PWDs Demystifies Myths About Disability

LUCOHECO, located at Plot 146 Mackay Road in Lungujja Kitunzi, Lubaga Division engages all beneficiaries in economic empowerment programmes, most specifically Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The other activities include providing a resource center which acts as a drop-in center and training facility to re-educate and re-skill beneficiaries.

This same venue is also used to engage in activities such as dialogue meetings with Community Leaders e.g., the Police and Religious leaders.

At LUCOHECO, disability does not mean incapacity. Persons with Disabilities are able to mobilize resources amongst themselves which they donate to others who badly off. For instance, there are plans to provide Mama Kits used in delivering babies.

LUCOHECO has played key mobilization roles such as working with the UNAIDS to link those with TB/HIV/Malaria to care and livelihood stimulation projects.

When empowered Persons with Disabilities are facilitated to enjoy agency, navigate life autonomously, contribute to the development of self and the society through intuitive productivity and take hold of the means of self-determination.
